Cheltenham Lido reverts to 1935 for first day of the season

When the Lido opened on Saturday 2 May staff dressed in vintage costumes and the entrance fee was slashed to just 2p, equivalent to the cost of a swim when the pool first opened in 1935.

The Lido’s manager, Iain Barton, explained that this is a tradition customers are fond of. He said:

“People are desperate to get back to swimming outdoors after swimming at indoor facilities over the winter. I think people appreciate that outdoor pools are a rare commodity these days. It’s not just the pool it’s also the four acres of landscape garden that make the Lido a very special place.”

Our local buying agent at Buying Agent Partnership said: “House-hunters, particularly those moving for a change of lifestyle, rate access to outdoor activities such as cycling, walking and running trails and outdoor swimming opportunities increasingly highly. It’s not just about the right house anymore. It’s about living the life they have always dreamed of.

“Cheltenham is an ideal place for buyers who want to combine the best of town and country living. It has stunning period property, excellent shopping and cultural facilities, some of the best schools in the country and is surrounded by breathtaking countryside.”
