Hay on Wye lies just on the Welsh side of the border with England, in Powys although it its postal address is Herefordshire! Notwithstanding the technicalities of location, Hay on Wye is a delightful small town with a population of around 1,500, and has an outstanding reputation as a bibliophile’s dream as it is home to a world-famous book festival in May-June each year, as well as a plethora of enticing bookshops that sometimes seem to comprise the whole town. It’s not all books though, as the literary festival is swiftly followed by food and crafts festivals and of course the Royal Welsh Show. Just on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, Hay on Wye is a wonderful centre for walking and other outdoor pursuits, and the surrounding hill countryside is spectacular.
Property in Hay on Wye is always sought after due to its location at the bottom of the Black Mountains and on the banks of the river, as well its vibrant culture and busy calendar of events. It is also ideally located in close proximity to Hereford and also the Welsh capital, Cardiff.
